Cute so far! I think it’s cute how the narrator is speaking to a former student. I think it gives a unique voice to the story!

This book is so well done! I know this is fiction, but I wonder how much of her research shaped the events in this book and how much is just made up

Already planning a trip to the Met this weekend to go see some of these works in person!!

trying to keep track of the characters because the author leaves out names more often than not but this is such an interesting book! loved Maggie O’Farrell’s other book and this one is just as intriguing

this would be such a good miniseries

been a minute since I’ve read a book that has any element of fantasy to it (really been in my regency era lately) and I’m sooooo intrigued!

on one hand, I need to finish my reading challenge before the year is over. but on the other hand, these books are so addicting. I know that Benedict’s season is supposed to be next in the show and I’m so curious how closely they’ll follow this plot. So far it’s for sure the most interesting although it’s essentially a Cinderella retelling

Anthony Bridgerton is so much worse in the book than in the show. Glad they didn’t do Jonathan Bridges that dirty ayyyyyeeeeee

okay couldn’t resist but to keep going. was hesitant to read these in order because I’m currently watching season 2 and didn’t want to spoil, but the perfectionist in me wanted to keep going. this is actually way more different than the show than I thought! but they couldn’t have changed the bee sting…….

Almost makes me emotional because I love the Met so much. Such a special place and so lovely to get the perspective of someone who knows it so intimately and appreciates it so fully.

I still should be more dialed in on this than I am. Any part with Lincoln is my favorite because I really do love him, but the military history (which is a majority of this book) really does bore me. Going to try to pay better attention now that I’m on a flight!

While it’s taken me a bit longer than I expected for me to click with this book (I do love the writing although the characters did not initially intrigue me), things JUST came together. I’m so excited to read the rest of this book now!!!!!

it’s good until it’s too much…I wasn’t sure if the books were going to be as sexual as the show and the answer is THEY ARE. I’m having war flashbacks to watching the show with my mom and my aunt…..

Always slow getting back into a history book like this but Larson does have a way of presenting history that is so compelling and fascinating. It’s amazing how he weaves the story with excerpts from letters and ties in relevant details that really pull you in. As always, I love how he shifts back and forth from those who were on the “right and wrong” side of history.

Austen translates BRILLIANTLY to audiobooks. Love it even more than the first time I read it.

it’s a bit slow but it’s cute

it’s fascinating but it just keeps going. no idea what I’ll rate this.

still can’t quite get a a good grip on this book, but I think it’s my own fault - this might not work as an audio. I’m finding some of the time skipping a bit confusing. Doesn’t help also that it’s pretty dark (which was a given because it takes place during both WWs). Also not much of an overall plot - just a bunch of mini plots which is also making the audio tough to follow.

This one keeps losing me a bit but I think it’s my fault. I feel like I need to pay better attention.

I’m scared because I feel like I know what is going to happen and I don’t want it to, but I can’t tell if Backman’s foreshadowing is just to throw off the readers (as he’s done in the past). Anyways, sad to be almost done with this book and series and ready to sob my eyes out like I do at the end of all his books!!
