I am loving this book, even though I am in a reading slump.

Makes me so sad when Netgalley archives titles months in advance to their release. I prioritize the books that I am allowed to review and was thrown off by one of the books, that I am genuinely interested in, being archived 5 months in advance to its publication date. Why?

The dialogue of this book has started to really annoy me. It is a combination if 'No, you aren't/yes I am" whining/pining from Jace (which, this side of Jace where he is waiting for Alec to get better annoyed the daylights out of me) and a "intentionally being vague to propel the story and create a false climax when the reality of the situation is revealed" conversation style. Ugh.

This is the type of book that you binge read when you just need something to binge read. It doesn't have much content and there isn't anything about the book that would push me to pick up the next one if I hadn't heard that the story gets better after City of Glass.

I really like this book, although the first 8 chapters of backstory and town goings on were a little tedious for me, but I hear they pay off

I have had to re-read this for AP Lit and I forgot how much I like this play. I love all Shakespeare (kinda a Shakespeare nerd) but I hadn't re-read this since I read Station 11 by Emily St.John Mandel and I am beginning to understand why she chose King Lear to propel the plague.

Jace's info dumps are getting on my nerves. There is a lot of "just let Clary freak out about something she doesn't understand and then fill her in later" sections of this book. I also totally see where Clare's writing gets lazy throughout the course of this book. I have heard that the series gets better writing wise, so I am holding out hope but some of these sentences are bothering me.

Ok this story is picking up, thank goodness

This isn't bad so far. For Christian YA fiction, it is surpassing my standards.
