So good! Historical fiction lovers - a unique setting and subject! Put down your 1920's and WWII fiction, explore with this account of a woman in 1672 Amsterdam! 3 women bound together in one house, on by family ties, one by marriage and one by servitude, trying to etch out a bit of love and security for themselves.

Barb reads......it ALL! is finished with The Lost Child of Philomena Lee: A Mother, Her Son and A Fifty-Year Search
While initially I thought this was about the birth mother, Philomena, it is actually about the little boy she was coerced into giving up for adoption in the fifties by the Catholic Church in Ireland.

As a Catholic this was disturbing to read, that the church felt itself so all-powerful that they felt the could dictate the fate of these poor unwed mothers and their children.
