It's incredibly interesting reading about several different aspects of Japanese culture at the same time. This book and the other book I'm currently reading about Japan after WWII are intersecting in fascinating ways.

Oh man this is going to be a rough some 1,100 pages. 10% of the time I will think oh this is interesting I hope he continues talking about these characters then off he goes and I have no idea what is going on 90% of the time. Are we ever going to get back to that guy that was trying to get high? I have no idea, and it just keeps going. It took me an hour to increase 1% on my Kindle.
