I’m loving this book oh my gosh

I’m really really liking this so far. the writing is absolutely beautiful.

the contextual evidence Marx and Engels cite makes their plans and claims more appealing. they consider the systems in place and their detrimental failures to the proletariat, and consider the plausible benefits to a transformation towards communal property.

Marx is a feminist!

it’s interesting seeing Marx’s phrasing (and Engel’s) of what he intended Communism to look like, particularly with his discussion on the nature of private capital. He says that it’s collective ownership doesn’t change its nature, but rather its class characteristic. Furthermore I found it fascinating how he mentions the bourgeoisie find class culture to be defining of a social culture.

I found it interesting that Marx referred to laborers as a commodity, which are influenced by the fluctuations of market competition. He engages with the idea that since labor has value, and is a quantity of human labor, then it will be economized by the bourgeoisie for its benefits.
