fire 🔥🐇 the narration is super compelling. Kanafani makes time and space practically convergent forces that operate simultaneously for the characters, even when they are physically far apart. Hamid’s projected anger towards his sister’s scandalous pregnancy is frustrating yet conveys a deeper anger he has at himself for his lack of action in his life.

Wow incredible writing so far. I love the stream of consciousness style. I think in particular Woolf’s attention to Septimus Smith is super fascinating—almost like his mental illness is a base point for his vivid imagination and vibrant consciousness. Peter Walsh is an interesting character, and he seems petty and bitter as he goes through a midlife crisis. I adore Clarissa, she seems so genuine.

I’m really lost. Now there’s this cult scientific garden family and I lowkey am over this book. Free Millat and Irie

I kinda like the second gen more but also Irie is getting on my nerves for some reason. Millat is even more annoying and he’s becoming an Islamic fundamentalist (I don’t even know what’s going on). honestly alsana is still my favorite and then Clara. They need to get their kids under control tho
