Regardless of the content, which is frequently harrowing and shockingly prescient, McCarthy has such a strong grasp on his world. He has a keen understanding of the nature of power, the cycles of brutality, and how each spoken word should shed a lot of insight into his characters. Can’t wait to sloppily review this when I finish it up.

It’s good so far, Simmons is still able to blend philosophical themes really well with his incredibly fleshed out world, however I am not as intrigued with his characterization so far. Idk it all just seems a bit flat, with the dialogue being a particular sore note. I also have not been incredibly impressed with Gladstone either. I’m hopeful things will heat up as Simmons establishes the story.
