took me a bit to get over my unexpected squeamishness to enjoy this but i’m into it now

i think i want to read this in english and then in spanish bc i want to get better at reading spanish literature but since i dont do it often enough im... rusty...............

and DNFing this because i find it completely insufferable. perhaps one day i will come back because i HATE not finishing a book, even one i dont like, but this one is just painful. the "im a lesbian except for this one irresistible asshole who broke my heart" trope makes me want to kill myself

putting an end to trying to re-read this series, im calling it self-care

definitely thought this book was going to be more queer/inclusive than it is

i think this book is going to put me on a christian fundamentalist memoir kick but i don’t know what book could possibly measure up to this absolutely masterpiece

get awAY FROM HIM

i think the most fascinating- and devastating- thing about this memoir is that way Tara shows the complexity in each family member, never characterizing a single one as wholly evil or good. She shows their love for her, and their cruelty towards her so effectively.

this book so icky in subject but so beautifully written

the conservatism/traditionalism vs gender roles in practice in this book is really fascinating

re reading this book even though i gave it 2.5 stars because i do really enjoy it (despite its many flaws), it’s just very charming and a good balance between a light playful read and having at least SOME substance

I have not been this pissed off at a book in a long time

will most certainly finish it tomorrow i love this book and will allow it to continually destroy me again and again until i am dust

on a re-read because this book is amazing
