I don’t know if it was the right or wrong decision to read a book about someone grappling with their mom’s cancer diagnosis and death around the same time my mom was diagnosed with cancer (though she is recovering nicely) and now my brother-in-law diagnosed as well but here I am. It’s a beautiful and mournful book.

So far a fascinating and frustrating story about the friction between two cultures: Hmong family life and traditions, and Western medicine, and a child with epilepsy caught between them.
