This might be added to my “duh white man” list. What qualifies a book for this list is the subject matter being the realization of ancient teachings by white men and the dilution that happens in the process but still helpful for minds indoctrinated into the ethos of “Western” culture, including my own.

Nah the tools for navigating projections are wild. I’ve been struggling with navigating shame and repression projections for SO LONG and this offers actual tools. THIS IS SO HELPFUL. (Part 2 onward, part 1 is a trauma dump).

I’d recommend Part 2 onward. There is SO much good information here, especially in the later half of Part 2. So so so so helpful.

Unsure if going through excruciating detail of every form of developmental trauma is helpful for me

“Objectification is essential for attraction. It requires that an “other” is identified as an object of desire. The objectification results in externalizing.” Ok Jack…this is what I mean by the Ancient Greek/European ethos embedded in this book. Still, some good stuff in here considering the limited writing on the subject. I’m excited to dive into more authors approaching from a different perspective.

Good so far minus the statement that eroticism finds it’s origin in Ancient Greece because what are you even talking about with that…that’s very obviously false. It is so annoying how much Greek thought is credited as the origin of everything and embedded in the thought processes of the culture at large. Expand beloved. But alas…we are used to this and will see what’s beneath the surface.

I have an aversion to when authors use “we” language or universalize experiences, especially when critiquing disparities within wellness culture.
