a long-term goal i had was to read some kind of scientific/mathematical book, and for the longest time i just could not get around to doing it. so i’m very glad i picked this book up because it’s very different to what i usually read, and surprisingly dense, but that makes it more fun! even within the bounds of a fictional story i’m learning so much about science! and physics!!! very grateful

this feels like a story about adults, WRITTEN by adults. i couldn’t be happier. god i love it when authors actually care about their characters and give them grace…

there is something about this book that really wrenches at your heart with its depth and substance—like a river that looks beautiful and blue and sparkly on the surface, but if you pay attention, you can see the weeds swaying below, and a kind of fathomless dark. it’s so subtle that you don’t always notice it; the immediate beauty is so overwhelming that its hidden substance stays modest. but it’s there.

author’s pen burned a whole city down when they were creating doo-joon’s character. he’s so soft, considerate, observant and respectful, but also smart as a whip, responsible as hell, and confident as ever… a well-written romcom with equally remarkable characters are atrociously hard to find; i feel like that meme where the guy is mining for diamonds and suddenly finds the whole mountain full of them 😭
