Wow, the BBC did quite a number on this one. Basically, they took one story, they split it into two separate stories, they rearranged a lot of plot events, created some subplots, removed some subplots, and dramatically expanded at least one character(Brinkley), oh, and they swapped banjo-playing for trombone-playing. And yet... no one could deny they captured the essence of this story magnificently

I've been very complimentary towards the BBC for their 90's rendition of J&W up to this point, but now I feel abused, LIED TO, it wasn't trombone playing but BANJO playing that drove Jeeves to give notice. It's a scandal, I say! Admittedly, I can definitely see Jeeves' point either way, neither is an instrument one wishes to hear the efforts of an amateur upon in close confines for any period of time.

I'm one of those people who roots for Wil. E. Coyote to win, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that I'd like it if just once Bertie actually was able to succeed without timely intervention from Jeeves, but I suppose that's one of the hundred or so reasons why I'm not a noted humorist and author.

New giveaway for early copy of The Strength of the Few popped up today. I entered as soon as I got the email... and there were already 4000+ entries before me... one copy. Sigh, back to hoping to be struck by lightning.

I really wanted a science-gone-amok story a la Jurassic Park, but couldn't find anything that fit the bill (and my tastes: The Troop? No thank you, no tapeworm horror stories, I had quite enough of those from my high school biology class), so this was basically, "next best thing," we'll see how it goes

You know, I didn't even realize I'd completed my goodreads challenge earlier this week, but with the better part of 5 months to go, I think I'll just bump it up to 150.
