While I enjoy AML’s writing and well-written journals, this’ll be hard as it covers their pre-WWII European sojourn when CAL was exploring the German Luftwaffe at US request and ended up advocating non-intervention. He had complex views, arguing with Anne in March 1936 that France should have extinguished Germany’s might earlier, holding racist beliefs, then joining the fight post Pearl Harbor.
