Some parts of Dune read like board meeting minutes.

Learnings so far: Sonia Manzano (Sesame Street's Maria) was in the original cast; Angela Lansbury's brother was one of the producers that first brought it to off-Broadway.

Too much detail for my brain to keep track of.

It's none of my business whether the author's LGBTQ+, and it's not something I think about every time I read a book, but when the subject of Elizabeth Taylor's marriages pops up, it makes you wonder. If he isn't gay, then at least he's outspokenly anti-Trump, although not very progressive (he sticks to the term "man-hours" and uses B.C. and A.D. for years, acknowledging that there are better, more inclusive options).

Just googled the Quebec Nordiques logo and laughed at it.

Never finishing this book

It was lovely to read "The Meeting" years after hearing it on Selected Shorts. Listening to that story gave me very vivid mental images of those green curtains which I revisited on this read. I also heard the whole thing in Jane Curtin's on this read. I'm not sure if she was the narrator for this story on that episode of Selected Shorts, but it's easy to hear stories read in her voice.

Much like Star Trek: Picard, this book is exactly what I expected it to be and I am glad of it.

Getting precisely what I wanted out of this so far: drawing room intrigue and the biting wit of Violet Crawley spread across multiple characters.

The words "the left hand of darkness" appear for the first time on page 252 of The Left Hand of Darkness.

Loving it but not a lot of story so far.

Murakami's background characters always come in pairs, are the same gender as each other, and one is fat and one is thin.

Not very much about the Nutcracker.

Rambly, but enjoying her voice.

Reading for the movie and that's OK.

Riveting action interspersed with slower but still interesting bits of history.

Lots of penis talk (at least two chapters' worth). She appears to have dipped back into Bonk.

First mention of pachinko is on page 250 of Pachinko.
