Just when things start to pick up, the whole thing goes off the rails again. As if the imaginary lover in the first half wasn't bad enough, now we're expected to swallow a literal mind meld?? Unless this really improves in the last tenth, I'll not be bothering with the last of the series.

So close to ditching this. The translation is beyond wooden, and lacks any of the spark the first book had, and the story is just dragging. I'm wondering if I should just skip a few hundred pages to get to what I've been told is the 'good bit'...
