Joe Bastianich is egotistical, really likes swearing, and is totally unapologetic for any of that. This book reads like we're sitting at a table and he's just shooting the shit about restaurants and his history and I LOVE IT.

I was over the moon about "Wishful Drinking", so I'm really excited to finally read this one. Carrie Fisher's the bomb. :D

Well, this book certainly got off to a rip-roaring gory start. (It is making me reconsider having an e-reader on my cell phone, not gonna lie.)

I don't know what it is about this book, but I can't stop reading it. I've gotten an hour's worth of sleep (and that was a catnap this morning) because I've been reading since 10 PM last night. It's quite the riveting doorstopper.

So far, this book has been nothing but "seriously, I promise, the hatred of busing and integrated schooling had nothing to do with racism, we weren't racist, why would you think we're racist, even the guy who killed his stepdaughter for 'bringing blacks around' wasn't racist", "jimmy was a really nice guy, he only killed you if he had a good reason!", "I'm super awesome, none of this stuff we did bothered me". Ugh.

At this point, honestly, I'm just reading to find out who the hell did it. This one feels far more formulaic than Flynn's other two books, maybe because this story in the 80s didn't really vary, either.

This story is right in my inner teen's wheelhouse, given how much I read about serial killers when I was in my teens. It does feel voyeuristic, but I'm pretty sure that's intentional. If it's as compelling-yet-uncomfortable as "Sharp Objects," I'm going to be really happy.

Already far better than the last book I read. Fey writes with a self-deprecating, acerbic wit and pulls no punches. I love it.

I think I have a few too many books started, because I didn't list the knights templar book I started, and I just got Tina Fey's "Bossypants" so that'll probably be on the list, too. XD

Stephen King wrote a hardboiled pulp fiction novel for Hard Case Crime? Sweet! :D

I'm holding out some hope that this one will be better than the last one, but now that I've started the series I'm determined to slog through it. Thus far, though, I'm glad that the only one I have in paper format is "Heartsick".

I bought this almost exclusively because of the cover, and the inside, thus far, hasn't disappointed. I got to page 68 sitting in the bookstore. :D

This is basically an entire book showings how nothing has changed since GWB was elected. It's interesting to see who has been on the right side of history, and who has been on the wrong side. (Hint, it's not the hippie peacenik orgy-loving liberals who have been wrong.) As depressing a read as it can be at times, it's very well-written.

I only put this book down because I had things I had to get done. I love her writing style, and it's very interesting to read essays written in 2001 and see how things have changed and how policies enacted then are affecting our lives now.

I've only gotten through the introduction and the first column (the book is a collection of Politt's columns for The Nation), and I already love it.
