First chapter, very atmospheric. I like this a lot so far.

Let it be noted that this jumped The Song of the Scaffold in my to read line, so we'll be dealing with interesting contrasts I'm sure.

A lot of places say that this book predates Dr. Gerard O'Neill's space habitat proposal, and thus Rama is an honorary O'Neill cylinder. Thing is, that's wrong. Dr. O'Neill's first paper on the subject was published in 1967, and this book was published in 1973.
