The sum of all humanity's presence in the solar system, bent on violence and spectacle. And at the edge of the display, almost off it, almost forgotten, the Giambattista and the Rocinante, already decelerating towards the ring gate, and two fast-attack ships burning hard to intercept.

By the time he walked into the meeting room on Tycho, he intended to have a little, simplified version of Avasarala that lived in the back of his mind.

Well that's a twist that I totally saw coming, because unlike some characters in this book I have a basic understanding of agriculture.

When Holden left the Earth Navy, he'd had a dishonorable discharge on his record and a sense of relief and righteous anger stiffening his spine... Looking back at it now, that freedom only earned second place after the subliminal, barely expressed relief that he wouldn't see any more ship-to-ship fighting.

I'm kinda glad I preached on St. John's feast day and talked a little bit about the poem that the book is based around because that was some good background.

"They know," she said. "Now can we get to the part where you surrender, or are you going to force me to kill you?"

Inaros gives me Tamburlaine the Great vibes and I'm not sure if that's intentional.

In class the other day my professor referred to this as "That big book by Charles Taylor that no one's read."

The original title is The Little Life of Fr. Men, I think someone at Gracewing wanted to stir the pot. But the author in the preface makes a good point, "For life here in the West, both in the political- or rather politically correct- and economic spheres (the obsession with wealth), and in the moral sphere (an unbridled laxity), has brought about a situation in which God... Has been pushed to the sidelines."

This is unquestionably brilliant, but I feel like I'm fighting a giant stone wall with some of the detail that he's getting into.
