There is much to process, but I like The First Man in Rome. I'm reading about Jugurtha of Numidia. I have a funny feeling that Sulla will be my favorite character.

By this point, I am skimming and rereading pages just to understand this book. I'm not enjoying it, but I'm too far for a DNF but am considering it. The writing style worked in the first few books, but lately I am struggling to sit down and read it. The structure was "sleep-inducing" but at this point my reading experience simply turned into exasperation.

Starting Book V. I think I made a mistake just focusing on this book only. I must say there's a lot of back and forth, but no push. My favourite parts were book 2 and 3, so far.

I've made it to Book IV. What do I think? I get confused by the names. There are too many similar names. Do you think that's purposeful, though? Is it done on purpose so that certain memories get jumbled up together? What's the point of having two Guros? Are they doppelgangers, too? I like that all the chapters start and end the same: The painting and the rosary. Hmm... Guess we'll find out in Book V.
