Ok, it's getting a tiny tad better. His self deprecating ways fall far from me as I have already witnessed the putirid nature of his narrative and his attempts to reividicate himself sound fake in my ears. Sorry sweetheart, no dice.

There are some time confusions in the story. The same period of time seems to happen either in the eighties but also in the nineties AND sometime around 2010.

A strange, latinized attempt to take on Henry Miller's style. A story about books where books are just the excuse for a sordid life where the man follows the head of his penis wherever it will take him. Not very pleasant to read.

A tad disturbing for me, for reasons I won't detail here. The style of the writer definitively reminds me of Henry Miller's in Tropic of Cancer.

Disappointed. Up to this point it's clear there is no investigation, no mystery no nothing, just excuses made to justify a "devoted mother" getting away from her sick child in order to bone a stranger. Stranger who is rude and keep making distasteful comments and simply imposes himself and orders her around. But she is fierce and independent and strong and "like, super-smart"... and still doesn't question him.

This book is quickly derailing from what I've expected. It has became more a romance novel rather than a mystery novel or a crime novel. This I didn't expect and I don't really like. In this particular part the novel is cementing the use of the child as an accesory to make the lead female character likeable and noble, and quickly deposing of him, getting him out of the way so that the forced romance can "bloom".

The romance part is really starting to annoy me.

The "romance"-ey parts, or "lusty" parts are throwung me off. Other than that, I... kinda still like it.

I'll take vacations so I can devote myself to read this book. And when I finish, I'll need a MAJOR eraser to set my soul back.

I don't know where to put this story yet. It started in a sugary "oh-so-perfect" universe that I thought it was a miss, but then BAM! It changed. I'm up and down with it, swinging between loving and doubting... until I decided to read it with an open mind and see where it takes me.

So far, boy, it looks good!

I'm advancing fast only because I'm reading this very, very lightly.

Reading this is sheer torture. All the characters are annoying and implausible. They are perfect, fragile but strong... you have to believe that, because nothing supports that idea, super talented... another thing that goes on faith and a slap in the face regarding grief, abuse and respect. This could be the book that makes me swear off the genre.
