honestly I would say most of the stories missed the mark for me - especially the shortest ones; I guess I liked the promise egg story, the one with the half brother, and the president story; it experimented with different formats which was a little confusing on audio; overall feel kinda meh about it; 3 stars

the president story was freaking wild; "ten men in one body with real soulful eyes" so there was a guy working at a president's theme park who was pretending to be Chester Arthur to support his sister who was dying of cancer while trying to impress his coworker crush who was in the love with the 10 president hybrid monster; the creativity is off the charts

they all be blendin together 🥴

the story about west was kind of good even though I don’t know what it meant; dog one was ok, rest after 27% meh

lowkey sexist and mildly infuriating but also weirdly exciting; the romance wasn’t exactly swOoN worthy but it was still really engaging in a boring way - wow I have such a way with words; it’s extremely forgettable but kind of made me feel like time was passing by faster; no doubt about this one, a 3 star read fosho

unfortunately I never laughed out loud but it was still funny; v simple writing but it didn’t bother me, probably would’ve been out of character anyway since these are supposed to be letters to her daughters; her husband is such a king wish there were more guys out there like him; lowk nasty during the parts where she talked about her sex life

a lot of overcompensating going on; this book is definitely trying way too hard to be effortlessly funny and quirky but it’s just not doing it for me; the humor at least - the storyline is engaging enough so far; also can John explain their relationship status? I know his return was for the kids but Amy deserves an explanation geez :/

this seems like the type of book a middle class white housewife would sit down and enjoy to feel frisky again; I still think it COULD be interesting but we’ll see 👀

I didn't think historical fiction was my thing until I read this book since Lovely War took place in the same time period and was such a dud and even more romantic than City of Girls; I can't really say what I really liked about this book - maybe a combination of the prose and DeePLy flawed characters that caused a lot of self reflection; I guess I'll give it a 4

I guess Angela was important to Frank so that means she was indirectly important to Vivian too; also Vivian never really gave off the impression that she's deep enough to connect with such a serious and damaged guy since the first half was full of her irresponsibility; it's plausible that she grew a lot in the next 20ish years but it wasn't shown so ... not sure about that one chief

I had a lot of thoughts while reading but now they're all gone; kind of a unique experience I'm not sure whether to give this a 3 or 4 star rating; the writing was really good in my opinion, especially the dialogue; the section about Frank was kind of short compared to the overall intent of the book; Angela didn't seem THAT important

oops I was actually around 60% during the Vivian Celia roast; I feel bad for Edna but damn she is so fierce wish I could be her

Oh MY GOD I did NOT see this coming; Edna just told Vivian that she'll never be interesting??? Geez I almost thought she was going to forgive her after the sad apology; I guess it's deserved though

quite the whimsical read 🤭 so exciting; I love the energy of it, so refreshing 😌; caught a lil of the next chapter and I really wanna read it but I told myself to stop around 50%; side note I’m so excited about getting real books again let’s goooo

whenever the story got too detailed especially in the middle when his siblings got involved I found myself tuning out; some of the smaller stories were really funny but I think the majority of it was just ... there; I’d give it a 2.75/5

the part where he talked about road rage expressions in different countries ... David really got me loling on that one :)
