Loved the essay on Cardinal Roncalli. Was under the impression most Catholics were simply indifferent to the plight of Europe’s Jews, but clearly Roncalli was an example of someone who was a real, true Christian.

The Rosa essay was not as interesting, I have to say. The Lessing one set a high standard, though

The first essay in this book on Lessing has to be one of the best things I’ve read thus far in philosophy.

I’m giving this a try bc it was on display at my local library, won a Nobel Prize, and I loved Never Let Me Go

I didn't finish this one. I don't have time/energy to read fiction I don't actually enjoy. Ugh, what a waste of reading time on the first 130 pages of this book!

Not a huge fan of the dialogue in this book, so I may not finish this. I’ll give it another 70 pages to see if I like it more

This book is absolutely terrifying. I legitimately am reading it and wondering how humans deserve to live after we let this happen.
