Lee Child is easily the best author that I've read that can make 60 pages fly by with descriptions of nothing in particular, the story barely moving on and yet you, the reader are still dewilderingly interested in carrying on. It sure is a gift.

Not many fantasy books have demons changing from male to female and being part of a curse to create demon broods by conjugating with drugged up sorceresses. Mental ain't the word but the main characters are cracking and it flew bye. Will definitely read the next one

Some nice new words in this so far. Chirurgy (operating on something and cutting away something that is dead) vividian (sort of marine colour) and many others.

Aaand it's like a hardcore medieval/sci fi mashup reminiscent of Ender's Game now. This book is the bollocks so far.

This really is a great first novel. I can't believe the author was only 24 when he wrote this. Although it shares similarities with The Hunger Games it is such much better in terms of depth, world building and story-telling. I find it mind boggling that it's not a film series. Surely it's coming..?

I love this book. It's so interesting to see how Prince saw things. The criticism of Graffiti Bridge didn't affect him seemingly and his reaction described on pg. 91 is brilliant and so true

This really is a tenderly written story so far. I'm transfixed.

Think this is going to be an epic page turner!

The sheer amount of unnecessary descriptive passages in this book is massively irritating. Could have probably knocked 30-50 pages off the books length.
