Dare being sent to Portugal to discover spy inside their organization. Story is that he is in Tower being investigated for treason since his brother was a traitor and fled to France with Kinross's daughter. Rory loved the episode at studio and is now saddened that Dare was so drunk as to remember nothing.

Dare and 2 buddies stage a mock Indian attack on dancing girls in a painters studio. Harvey, with a shortened buckskin, is seen by his Lady wife and Dare crashes into Rory. He steals a kiss and loves bantering with her and offers to make her his mistress. Harvey loses buckskin and fails to escape soldiers who arrive to take Dare. Lady wife faints and won't talk to Harvey. Dare is sworn to silence by spymaster Earl.

I am a little tired of this story and wherever it is going. I only read it to read the book before I started "The Time Gatherer", but I almost regret it and spending the money.

May went back again after the disaster of the affair. Ber is changed. She tries to help him and understand, but she comes back right after she promised to stay. Again. Eva is going to sculpt. She & Art spread daughter's ashes on "The Slaves".

The "Love" on May's side sounds more like hero worship than actual love. There are several good things that work between May and Ber. He seems passionately over the edge with regards to May.

Eva gets guidance from Mich and they know a little about the other's experiences. Eva is told to help young artists and is softening toward May. Florentine and May gets a cold, but still has a trip to past. She is jealous of the affair Ber will have w/ Con. Ber doesn't even like Con at this point. She seems to disappear now when she goes back in time. Things w/ Dar are bad.

I realize I am annoyed about the segments with Eva. There must be a point to be revealed later. On to Siena and a beautiful chapel. May is beginning to realize she needs to make her life w/o Darren. She models for Truth statue. He starts in clay then decides to go directly to marble then they make love. He wants a child.

Charles Fitzstuart was sending information to France for America because he believes in the cause. He & Mary Jane are marrying and moving to France, eventually America. His brother, Alistaire, is the heir to Earldom and he is spying for money to cover debts. He confesses. Tom Cavendish was blackmailing them both and he & his wife Kitty are going to Ireland. Doctor was banished to some Polynesian island.

Once in London, Antonia reunites with Henry. Jonathan's uncle dies and now he is a Scottish duke. His daughter is fleeing to Paris and the troops come to the door. They stage a diversion. He has to be at the new estate 6 months of the year so he will see Antonia in the fall. They will be married just before he leaves. She showed journal where ancestor left property to sister to cover his debts to 4th duke.

He stays a week and they don't talk about what happened. He slept in pavillion waiting to be invited inside. He had a tree house & swing for her grandchildren to play in. He told Deb what had happened. Duke doesn't want him near his mother. She agrees to go to London with him.

After a week away, Jonathan discovers quack in her home. Cook put diarrhea med in food for goons. J broke quack's fingers. She had injured quack in groin and escaped. J found her at tomb and began to care for her during heavy storm.

I was crying so much that my eyes are red and puffy this morning. Antonia found out that Julian had sold the hotel in Paris and barged in to see if it was true. Charles is spying for the Americans, and they blamed Antonia. Julian lost his temper and yelled at his mother. Fredrick overheard. Antonia's self-pity turned to self-loathing. Duke let quack "treat" her and tortured & fondled her instead.

The youngest son fell into the lake and almost drowned. Charles and Jonathan both helped the duke to save him and get all back to the docks. Deb went into shock over worry for her boys.

Jonathan's family holdings were improperly absorbed into the Roxton estate and he is trying to get them back. Part of them were flooded to form the lake and the others were given to Antonia as her widow's share. A dresses in green (instead of black) for regatta for Fredrick's team that is named after her.

Jonathan sees Antonia at a ball in black and it is 3 years after Renard has passed. She mostly lives in her memories and her grandchildren bring the only joy to her life. J realizes that she likely just needs someone to listen. He lost the love of his life and understands. He defies Roxton to ask her to dance. Then, he appears uninvited, but with notice, at her pavilion and seeks to distract her from her grief.

Eva has George's cigarettes.

Eva having more experiences with Mich and one with Giotto in Assisi. May makes up with Darren and then pushes issue of children and Darren basically drops her. She makes scene and goes off on her own. Sees Ber and tries to fix his big failure and only makes cause of his failure worse. She was gone 2 days and it was only an hour in Assisi.

Epilogue: Roxton & all waiting for arrival of Jack & Henry with news of 4th child (in 4 years) if boy, like previous 3, or girl. Duke is still alive.

R & Julian in duel in park. R losing and goes toward Deb again. R shot by her guard. Dominique confesses she lied about Julian and R overheard then went to her father and everything blew up. Dom and Evelyn are eloping. Julian sounded like he knew Evelyn was wrapped up in this.

Henry is missing and Robert arrives as Jack is waiting for doctor. R upset that Dominique turned down his proposal. Tells Deb that Dom will be at Park next day. Late that night, Julian comes to check on Deb and tells her he had been a virgin. His mother summons him to explain R could not be his brother. R attempts to abduct Deb using circus performers. Deb shot one of them and started a panic.

Deb travels to Paris to meet the Duke & Duchess and be with Julian and Jack. Julian handles 1st encounter poorly, but has missed her dearly for 12 weeks. Gerry tries to kiss up to Julian and he orders him back to his estate. Mary had been waiting for Julian until she discovered he was married and that is the source of her negativity. Julian tells Deb story and they almost make up.

She realizes he never said he loves her.

Julian and Deb were married in the middle of the night, and she told it was a dream. At almost 21, she meets him wounded from a sword fight in the forest. Later she meets him again as Martin's godson. Julian takes her on a whirlwind courtship and weds her w/o his title being known. They take a 10-week honeymoon. Afterwards, he tells her by introducing her to his French lawyers w/ great haughtiness.

Roxton hosts house party. Dombert assaults A and R rescues her. They are wed that day and stay at estate for honeymoon. 2+weeks later Este and Valentine return from wedding trip. Dombert is completely mad and has grabbed A. Salvan comes with musketeers to get Dombert. Salvan tried to kill Dombert in hold-up, but missed hitting A. Dombert returned to bastille, Salvan a laughing stock.

A's grandmother was a petty, vain, jealous woman. She conspired with Salvan to keep A in France. She also kept all of A's letters to R so he would not receive them. A is pregnant and planning to go to Italy to live. R arrives after he gets info that Theo was A's guardian not the dead earl so marriage contract is null. G-mere sent message to Salvan that duke arrived.

After 6 days spent together in bliss, Roxton emerges to find Antonia's grandfather signed the contract and has died. Now there needs to be a mourning period and Antonia is being sent to her grandmother with the valet. Roxton brushed her off like a casual fling.

Salvan is close to getting marriage contract with Antonia's grandfather. Roxton is working to put him off. Roxton's sister is gone for a few days and he went off hunting. She thought he would return and he did late in the evening. She went in her nightclothes to his rooms and found him right after a bath. She wanted her first time to be with him and he finds he doesn't want her with anyone else.

Antonia is well educated, speaks her mind, and will only marry for love. Roxton is bored with everything and is very demanding in his expectations. His sister, Este, is prone to tantrum like behavior and is a widow. Lord Valentine, Roxton's best friend, has been courting Este.

Antonia's grandfather is dying. Comte de Salvan is trying to get her married to his son where he will then force her to become his mistress. She has been trying to appeal to Roxton, but he wouldn't respond. He was supposed to take her to England, to her grandmother. He removes her from Masque and she is shot on road. Roxton generally keeps his distance and is now protecting her.

He can come forward in time to see her. At his fountains, he came forward then they both went back and moved around some. He inspires May, while Darren oppresses her. Sandra is off on her own adventure and plans to stay in Rome. Each of these meetings are small gaps of time that are unexplained. Eva wants to get her out of the college.
