Started this a year or so ago, but never finished.
Now I get to hear the melodic voice of the King of Horror narrate his own book.

So… This dude see dead people…
But not like that movie with Bruce Willis.

Halfway done - I hope the second half is as wonderful as the first! 5 ⭐️ book, so far!

Ben Richards is the Guy Montag of dystopian reality television.

This book clearly shows - through many secondary characters - that those on the spectrum are constantly seen and treated as weird and awkward. I am truly enjoying Molly the maid.
Oh, and I found the obligatory Shakespeare - in this case, Hamlet - reference! Hahaha!
Detective: “Something isn’t right in the state of Denmark.”
Molly: “What does Denmark have to do with any of this?”

The main character, although never directly stated, has ASD. So, if you know someone (or are someone) on the spectrum, you will recognize many of the characteristics and phrases used by Molly the Maid.
So far, I’m enjoying the character a lot. The plot is actually secondary to this.

A westerner reads this book and thinks “man, them boys are treated horribly,” but then looks the other way.
Ten chapters down and this book is excellent.

Wait… so the incident happened ON MY BIRTHDAY?!?! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Went to the library, checked it out.
I hear that it’s gut-wrenchingly good.

If you like Stephen King’s “Carrie”, then this retelling will seem like an almost carbon copy during the first hour. It even uses the cut-away news reports (a podcast in this version) to add info that the main plot omits.
The change… this version makes Carrie/Maddie a person of color who is forced to hide who she really is. Not bad so far.
