Classism, and racism, and sexism, oh my!
Clearly, this is NOT grandma’s “Wizard of Oz”… you can throw that PG story out the window.
Here, the land of OZ is a typical society that swims in the muck of political and social unkindness.
So much to sound off on here - liking this more than I thought I would.

After part 1:
•”Make Britain Great Again”?… hmmm, sounds familiar
•V makes Parliament go 💥 and the fascists go nuts.
•Fascism in this story sounds a lot like extreme right wingers and corporations that support a certain corrupt orange colored dude. I jest, or do I…
•A lot of Nazi references towards the end with the mention of the concentration camps and furnaces.
•Macbeth & Hamlet appear!

Differences between this and season one on Hulu… little to none - other than how Holly Gibney is portrayed.
I saw the series first - enjoyed that a lot.
The book is also very enjoyable - but you know you’re reading King when he lets loose on vocabulary you don’t have a habit in using yourself and you kinda cringe when they’re said…

This is a difficult read 😥
Not because the writing is overly complex - it’s an easy to follow plot.
But the author decided to not use any quotation marks for dialogues and paragraphs are run-on.
Therefore, I really have to pay attention so to know when the narrator or a character is talking.
Other than that, it’s a very good story of societal downfall. No wonder it won the Nobel Prize.

Just finished a book that revolves around totalitarianism and immediately picked up one that revolves around tyranny 🤦🏻‍♂️🙃😅

Typical school interruptions 🤦🏻‍♂️ preventing me from finishing this week. Good to see students read ahead after we stop for the day or ask if we’re reading and what will happen next. Some laugh, others eye roll over my dad joke-fueled recaps 😎

End of Pt. 1 - you have to have read 1984 to read this novel. I’m enjoying the story so far.

Stumbling towards disaster…

New year, new students reading a book about books that blames the rise of technology for society’s downfall.
Oh, and the customary “Montag is totally hitting on Clarisse” theory surfaces.

Time to read — for the… I lost count how many times — my all time fave with the seniors.

Joining the Padavano’s was the worst and best thing to happen to this guy, William.
Julia Padavano - controlling and more than obvious she would end up like her mother.
Sylvia Padavano - my type of lady! Loving, caring, and a bookworm!

Although this novel focuses on William as the main character, it is Julia who literally takes control of the entire plot. That is a problem for everyone around such a control freak.

“For every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.”
In other words: knowing that we all come from the same parts of the universe allows us to respect, care for, and love each other just that much more.

I have never read Little Women, so I am going into this book with no knowledge of who the Padavano sisters are inspired by.

Almost 100 pages until the dude got swallowed by a freakin’ sperm 🐋 whale. But let me tell ya… this author really goes into slimy details 🫨
