Ch 4: Lockwood sits down with his maid Nelly, and she spills the tea about her previous employer at Wurthering Heights and about how Heathcliff came to be.

I really liked this chapter; the background was extremely helpful.

Oh this boy is Heathcliff!

Mr. Earnshaw brings home a stray child. Interesting.

"...the door-latch was raised quietly, and in stepped the master."

Oh good, this thing where the kids waiting for their dad to come home was really starting to be sad and even more sad if he didn't return home.

"This caused me to feel, not uncomfortable, but rather
fearful (as I am still) of serious effects from the incidents of to-day and yesterday."

I'm with you Lockwood, if some ghostly figure grabbed my hand through a window in the middle of the night I wouldn't be so hot either.

Heathcliff has a ton of money, and it increases every year, yet he stays in Wurthering Heights. Got it.

Trying not to be uncomfortable with the number of times ejaculated is used in this book.

Ch. 3: Lockwood goes to bed for the evening. He finds the name Catherine with several last names (Earnshaw, Linton, and Heathcliff) scrawled into the windowsill. He finds Catherine's diary. She and Heathcliff are close. When closing his window, Lockwood is grabbed by a ghostly hand and wakes Heathcliff. Heathcliff is talking to this ghostly figure. Lockwood returns home to the surprise of his staff.

"My human fixture and her satellites rushed to welcome me; exclaiming,
tumultuously, they had completely given me up: everybody conjectured that I perished last night; and they were wondering how they must set about the search for my remains."

Jesus, morbid much?

"A sensible man ought to find sufficient company in himself.’"

Interesting. Who is this Catherine character?

Ch. 2: Lockwood goes to Wurthering Heights. He meets Mrs. Heathcliff, mistakes her for Heathcliff's wife. She is actually his daughter-in-law to his late son. Also meets Hareton Earnshaw. The weather takes a turn and Lockwood goes to leave and wishes for guide. No one wants to help him. He takes a lantern and promises to return it. Hareton sicks the dogs on him, and Lockwood is once again rescued by the housekeeper.

Zillah, the housewife to the rescue!

"‘I can sleep on a chair in this room,’ I replied."

Hell yeah I'd choose the chair any day over sharing a bed with Hareton or Joseph.

Mrs. Heathcliff studies witchcraft? She's talking about making Hareton disappear etc.

" ...and I resolved to be cautious how I ventured under those rafters a third
time."

Right, you should Lockwood. They all sound like a dreary bunch of people.

" I knew, through experience, that I was tolerably attractive."

Damn, Heathcliff chose violence today.

Summary: Mr. Lockwood meets Mr. Heathcliff, his landlord to Thrushcross Grange. Healthcliff is moody and kinda dark and lives in the Wuthering Heights manor. Emphasis on the Wuthering because there are insane winds during storms. A bunch of dogs attack(ish) Mr. Lockwood who is saved by the housekeeper. He sort of grows to like Heathcliff despite his numerous dogs and promises to return to the Grange the next day.

How much you wanna bet this is his dead beat dad trying to get in touch with him

Okayyyy this man paying for her emergency vet visit. He must like her A LOT since those visits are $$$!
