I immediately enjoy Ben Aaronovitch's loveable characters, humour, and overall exceptional creativity and writing. This is an original world and premise and I looked forward to returning to it. I needed to laugh and Ben delivers them by getting me into stitches! I also love the modernity in which some angry side characters baldly advise each other to "fuck off"! It is a vicarious release!

I am instantly sympathetic to the bond and difficult home life of a younger Brother & Sister. Gina is unlikely to be in the rest of Maureen Johnson's "Shades Of London" series, sadly. I love her from her first word. I wonder how much her Brother applies to the series. My guess is that this is the only story in which we see him as a 13 year-old.

Here we are at last, witnessing the beginning of Kate Mulgrew's acquaintance with "Star Trek: Voyager"! She is going to her audition and I would not have guessed that it was in New York City.

I am reading first and will try the 4 exercises afterwards. For now, I am conscientiously inhaling and exhaling more deeply. Whether or not I target my diaphragm without specified adjustments, I know I am getting the better, much fuller emptying and refilling breaths I need. I find it is true that knowledge is power and just the basics make a big difference in new, essential, education and ameliorating our health.

I am enjoying getting to know Miley and the Cyrus family a little bit. Too bad she started her story just after leaving Ontario, where I knew they lived for a year. She said she was homeschooled there, so I wonder how much she interacted with kids and acquainted our country's cultures. It would have been gratifying to read. I am sorry she was treated like crap in grade 6 in Nashville.

Surprisingly absent of any paranormal content at all, which it said it contained more prominently than usual. I am uninterested in violent stories about injustice or war.

It is odd that even though northern North Dakota is closer to me than most of Canada and the United States, my interest is low because it is not a part of my country nonetheless. We all govern ourselves differently, have our own communities, cultures, mannerisms, and traditions. It is most inspiring to read about our own, especially specific to our province, Manitoba.

I would love it if we could row over to a nearby island and ask a spirit questions any time we wanted to. The originality of this novel containing the kinds of spirit interactions I have longed to see is fantastic!

A friend's husband gave this Orillia, Ontario 'paranormal mystery' author to me and it is really good.

I am impressed with Simon Brett's writing throughout this whole novel. My sole complaint is that he referred to alcohol far too much. It is enough to establish that someone has an addiction or stress drinking problem. Every chapter need not describe a drink or drunk. However, the writing is masterful and the humour is intelligent and amazingly unique. The mystery too, is topnotch and far surpasses the first two.

I waited a long time to obtain a copy of this third novel. Now I can continue Simon Brett's first series. I am enjoying it much more than its predecessors.

I think I know whence the motive comes. These being my own notes that few people read, I will venture ideas. I think the Daughter was born from the visiting woman who fell down the cliff. I think the Son was born from the chauffeur. However, I do not hold truck with the worn out cliché that we do not fall in love with children who are not physically related to us. Any child in our home of any species, is adored.

A very emotional family mystery in a bright, new place for hardworking city dwellers to enjoy nature. I appreciate Rhys Bowen's setting and story very much. I imagine their story reflects the tragedy of Charles Augustus Lindbergh Junior. I think Rhys must have wanted to write them a happy conclusion.

“In Like Flynn” is immensely more interesting than “Murder On Mulberry Bend” by Victoria Thompson. A series about 1900s New York City need not inch along street by street. I enjoy Victoria but Rhy Bowen dips into a wider range of topics and premises. This time, she is investigating spiritualists in a Hudson River manor. Most poignantly, a toddler missing from there for 3 years needs to be found. Very compelling.

I prefer that authors focus on great characters, intelligent premises and plots, original settings, natural dialogue and storytelling. Twists are gimmicks that draw from quality to insert an implausible motive we would not guess about fictional characters or scenarios. However, seeing who a villain is and what their motive must be from the beginning, suggests Victoria again made little effort to go deep in a story.
