You know what, I usually don't do updates like this anymore but I need to vent my emotions somewhere.

Why is it that I pick up a Thousand Autumns volume and immediately get personally attacked by Yan Wushi. How dare you. Who asked you to do this.

I like Book Two a lot because it's all in Ivy's POV, which is the stronger of the three. (Rafferdy's is the strongest imo.) There's probably an homage to Turn of the Screw, but I don't remember enough of that to be sure.

Is that 'corset bad' talk I see? In a book that has Regency type clothing in the cover?? 🤣 Really??

(Not that corsets are bad. There are so many clothes historians who would tell you that's all just a lie, they're simply historical bras or shape wear. But the Regency era style dress doesn't even call for small waists?? What's even happening here.)

I am sorry if you have to see this. I guarantee my updates would have spoilers.
But here we have Eldyn squaring his noble-but-fallen-upon-hard-times shoulders and asking for Ms Walpert's hand in marriage (poor Ms Walpert had been treated so badly by this novel, sorry she's so coarse and unrefined 🙄), but then before Eldyn could even bring the subject of marriage up he sees Westen. I mean.

So I can finally read the 3rd book of this and thought now is a great time to reread the series. Oh boy, on this page Westen finally speaks to Eldyn and you know what. Eldyn remains the weakest link in the trio of POVs we have. Thanks for being a snob and thinking you're too fine to work like any other peasant, Eldyn. Imagine having to work for a living!

I didn't like the movie, but this is good so far.

This is either going to be a clever, cheeky thing or it's gonna be a disappointment.

I had to stop at page 11 and re-read it again from the start because I couldn't get into it. Now I think I'm liking it so much better. BUT omg, I'm laughing so hard at the conceit of preparing for Kvothe's visit? It's JUST Kvothe, Auri. What's all the fuss about. >.>

Oh, I like 'The Thing About Cassandra', it promises to be a mindfuck.

I think the reason why I like this book is the conversations: I honestly can't give a flying fuck for any of the characters, but they do have interesting conversations.

I really like how knitting is used as a metaphor for storytelling/narrative here. Or maybe that's just me over-reading.

Oh no I'm having a ton of feelings. Eek!!

Finally Baz makes an appearance. But also: /Snow blusters like no one else. But! I! I mean! It's just!/ Jfc, I know it's probably not Baz's intention to make Simon sound so adorably cute, but that's exactly what's happening here. Eek.

/Pregnancy had a kind of irrelevance to his existence that surpassed that of abstract math./ I've forgotten how funny Kahlil is, omg. What a precious baby.

Reading Ginn Hale always makes me hungry. The pies sound so good.

I'm going to re-read all my Ginn Hale books until I have enough money to buy the new Cadeleonian novels. AAH!!

Idk if that's what the author intended, but parts of this novel made me laugh out loud. Maybe unintended black humour, but maybe not.

I think I'm going to be underwhelmed. Let's hope not.
