Action-packed from the start! I had to skim (used the tabs I put in it) the first book because I knew I was forgetting stuff, and refreshed a little bit quickly and jumped back into the action! Action, creepy men, creepy invisible monsters, super-strong girl...i'm liking it so far :)

Metaphor: when Strobe grabbed his crossbow really fast because the book said that "In a lightning move, Strobe grabbed his crossbow, ..."

In part 2, chapter 3 Calanthe (a dekayi; a type of human/monster) was described as depleted. I understand from that colorful modifyer that she looked really exhausted. Also, Calanthe was able to pick up Toby as if he weighted no more than a few pounds. I could tell from that action verb that she was really strong.
