In part 2, chapter 3 Calanthe (a dekayi; a type of human/monster) was described as depleted. I understand from that colorful modifyer that she looked really exhausted. Also, Calanthe was able to pick up Toby as if he weighted no more than a few pounds. I could tell from that action verb that she was really strong.
