“Frauen wurden geschlagen, Pistolen geladen und Kissen verdroschen. Mrs Fellsteins 32 Katzen würgten alle gleichzeitig Haarknäul auf ihre Veranda.” - inklusive der erstklassigen Club Szene in dem einer der Hauptcharaktere als 40-Jähriger ein “Mädchen”anmacht. Schwierig

Rough sexist tone towards women, let’s see how that goes

7.5/10! Really enjoying it now and can't see where it's going to go. Writing style is as weird as I'd hoped and the female characters have depth I wasn't expecting given the age of the book which is a nice surprise :) pace has really picked up and it's so creative

Struggled with the first chapter and did not like any of the characters or the writing style - improved when one of the guys got eaten. Very odd book (as expected!) but interesting cast of mostly believable characters :) so far, 6.5/10, can't see where it's going!

So far enjoying it. I love many of this author’s books. For this I went back to the first he wrote.

Breezing through this & I’m really liking it so far! Witty & great dark humor & amazing character descriptions. Every chapter is written by a new character (i swear it’s been like 15+) which is a new experience for me- one chapter was in the perspective of a group of raccoons.
Biblical anecdotes, cross dressers, vegan covens, & plenty of murder so far

3.5 ⭐️ My first Christopher Moore book and definitely not my last! Had to get used to his writing and humor but once I did, I was hooked!

Finally starting to see some of the pieces drop into place. I have to admit that this hasn’t held my attention like I’d hoped, but after reading DEMON COPPERHEAD and REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES, even stories that are “merely” good will seem lesser than, perhaps unfairly so.

Tried this one a while back and stopped my reading habit. Getting back into it, so giving this one another shot.

Billy and The Breeze went out to pick up women at bars. Breeze tells Billy to leave since he is gonna pick up a girl….he doesn’t. Billy tells him he will be at another bar if he still needs a ride. Breeze Ends up leaving the club and walking back to Pine Cove. Doesn’t go looking for Billy at the other bar/club. Breeze gets eaten by a dwarf…or something that came out of a Chevy while attempting to hitchhike.

I’m absolutely loving this book! I’d forgotten how much Christopher Moore’s writing captivates me.

I love the character H.P, who runs the diner. An obvious reference to Lovecraft. I also think the character Blume or whatever the old guys name is is cool. I was expecting him to be just some old guy but he’s a badass.

I like it pretty well so far. I am hoping that angels will make appearances in due time.

I did it! I wanted more supernatural stuff and I found it. Good news, according to Tv Tropes, my favorite blonde angel Raziel is an important character later in this series :3. I didn’t realize that Moore wrote The Stupidest Angel, I’ve wanted to read that for a while. I also read a bit of his novel The Island of the Love Nun, but stopped cause I was reading it for class and a dude gets his balls torn open :(

I always assumed this book on my shelf was going to be a slapstick buddy romp, and it's not.

Apparently, I am simultaneously reading 2 books that feature djinn messing with King Solomon's wives. This also had a reference to The Old Man and the Sea that I totally would not have realized had I not read that book last week.
