I’m not finished with this book entirely but I’m still going to mark it read. I highly highly recommend it, it is my favorite interpretation of the Sun Tzu that I have read (I have read very few, mostly done internet research). The Art of War is highly relevant for anyone who wants to have an impact in a group, and teaches that we want to “take all under heaven intact”. Science fiction 😏

I’ve made a number of attempts to digest various translations of The Art of War. So far, this one is the best. More to share so stay tuned.

I just read that "aspiration" means "to breathe" so if you don't have a dream, it means you don't have a purpose in life. If there is no breath, there is no life.

Seeing the whole situation as a whole and not just individually as a leader, general or sage commander. If you see a situation as a whole, you will always see the effect, consequences and chain reaction in a large scale. Being part of interconnectedness and change and not just an observer. Knowing and Victory.

Action as a natural process reminds me of the 1962 film Sanjuro. The mass of camelia (tsubaki) flowing on top of the stream in the movie represents "change" in the current flow as discussed in this chapter.

An introduction about conflict that is inevitable and also about "taking whole" of the situation, knowing yourself & the enemy and achieving your goal without or less fight.
