I'm not a huge Sci-Fi fan, but this is far more than Sci-Fi anyway. Marge Piercy knows how to tell a story, and although I wished it was faster, it's a great novel.

I can't believe this story is 448 pages long. The pacing is damned tedious and the golem asides are near pointless. Not liking the mixture of magic, religion, and science.

It's probably just my upbringing, but I really have a hard time reading books that involve religion. In this case, not only am I trying to comprehend a mostly-alien world, but I'm also at a loss to Jewish customs and the author writes about them as if I already know what certain phrases mean. Hopefully it gets better.
