I’m delighted to read the return of first-person narrative. It works so much better. This is another new narrator and she’s doing just fine. The technology is over my head, but it’s okay. The message and meaning behind it, at the heart is crystal clear. I’m 100% intrigued and invested. There’s a mystery in play and I’m curious as hell!

I tried reall y hard to get into this book, but it was way too descriptive and I couldn’t make it past 28 pages. I did not finish it. Maybe I want to avoid this author.

Not her best. Scarpetta was kind of self centered and whiny throughout.

Such a confusing book. The constant internal monologue was tedious. And the swinging back and forward with her emotions towards the people she considers family was just ridiculous.

Why do I keep doing this to myself. I don’t need a detailed list of all your toiletries and their ingredients. FFS. I gotta stop reading these books expecting them to go back to their original brilliance.

I made it about halfway before all the things that annoy me about this series and kept me away from it for so long came flooding back. These people can’t talk to each other or tell the truth. It’s like they hate each other. It’s obnoxious. The beginning of the series wasn’t like this but lately I just can’t put up with the constant anger, irritation and lack of trust Kay has for the people in her life.

I'm sorry but I'm dumping it. It could probably be cut by 150 pages of conversation.

I'm wondering if the authors ever reads these reviews. If she did,it seems she'd realize this isn't what her fans love. We want less hi k and more mystery. What has happened ??? The last 5 books in this series is filled with way too much dialog that adds nothing. Too much descriptions of Lucy's outfits, and not enough of the writing style from the first 5 books. I'm not gonna be able to finish

Although I love her books this one kinda fell flat for me. It was good but not one of her best.

TIL (but seems obvious): Autopsies on dead soldiers serve as war intelligence because of the weapon materials extracted from their bodies.

It should be illegal for an audiobook novel to have intermittent music, just a thought

Not liking it very much. The "everybody is against Kay" vibe makes it unpleasant to read. I used to love her books. What happend?

Agh! 😒 I switched to the audiobook because, like, why not listen to the end of this while I wrap things tonight? Not only does that mythical women's prison in Savannah show back up, we get the narrator doing the WORST Southern accent ever. That hurt to listen to. I like the book overall, but that's memorable in a bad way.

I am enjoying this book, but DAMN could one author ever at least Google or maybe even visit Savannah, Georgia? I'm still mad at Tess Gerritsen over her fake Riverside Hospital (there are 3 historic general hospitals and a large mental facility) and now we get a fictional women's prison (the real prison is a men's transition center). I know this is a stupid pet peeve but it's my hometown. Do better.

I got a recommendation to go to this book and table Dust for the time being. So far, so good. This book isn't a drag. There's less of the melancholy remembrance thing... still a lot of hinting at back story, but not over the top. We have 2 mishandled cases: a tech guy involved with something classified and a murdered kid.

Dr. Scarpetta is a forensic radiologic pathologist working at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. She has an upcoming interview with CNN to explain her profession and what the government has to do with it, so she starts getting ready. While she's taking a shower, Captain Avallone, a co-worker of Dr. Scarpetta, comes into the shower room to inform Dr. Scarpetta that Pete Marino, a past co-worker of hers was on the phone
