Status Updates From En busca del tiempo perdido...

I’ve made pretty good progress this week, it’s beginning to follow a more traditional narrative structure which has helped me to create the links necessary to fully appreciate such a complex work. I was however very disappointed to hear Bergotte did not live up to his expectations but that’s why they say never meet your heroes I suppose

Reading this is staring at a shallow river and then jumping in and swimming with it below the surface. And then while you’re in his flow he’ll write something even more beautiful and that’ll kill you

Whilst undeniably very slow and meandering, I’m finding this semi-autobiography of proust’s life to be very well written. He does like to go on tangents though, 2/5s have been about his grandfather’s friend getting messed around by the busiest bisexual in France. Fortunately I do now see how this ties in to the greater story and I look forward to seeing how this shapes his future.
