Notes:
(1) Unless I missed something... no titular line? Boo!
- Believe me, I've been looking.
(2) In sum: this is akin to reading through several elaborately annotated family trees.
- I get the gimmick is meeting and getting to know family members of major characters—with personal drama in the mix—but that's all this is.
- There's no main story, just a hodgepodge of loosely patched-together things to do with family.

Notes:
(1) Eric: "I can only tell you that I'm not having sex with my maker. But I would if he told me that was what he wanted. I would have no choice."
- Again, Sookie seems to regard this in a fairly dispassionate "Yeah, that's gotta suck" way.
- I guess it's different when your boyfriend's male maker commands sexual submission, compared to a female maker (Bill's) doing the same.
- How sexually normative of Sookie.

Notes:
(1) "'Just as general information—if this guy says jump, Eric has to ask how high.'
'No way,' Bobby said. To Bobby, Eric was the most powerful creature under the moon.
'Way. They gotta mind their maker. This is no lie.'"
- It's interesting how matter-of-fact Sookie is about progeny obedience when it comes to Eric, considering how long and obstinately she held it against Bill when he had to acquiesce to Lorena.

Notes:
(1) "...something stirred in the back of my head, a memory that wasn't a memory. Something to do with the woods... with a hurt man in the woods. I shook my head to rid myself of the haziness..."
- If I'm not mistaken, she's referring to Preston from the short story "Gift Wrap."
- Wait! She doesn't remember? I thought the whole point of that morally-questionable ruse was to give Sookie a happy Christmas memory?

(1) "But Pam was already hitting a speed-dial number on her cell. I could hear Eric yelling when he answered the phone. Pam said, 'Shut up and I'll explain. Of course, she lives.'"
- I picture quizzical head-tilts of Gen-Zers, unpacking "speed dial ... on her cell."
- Pam here is far less “Alice in Wonderland with fangs” than The Wolf from Pulp Fiction: barking orders to an emotionally compromised Eric.

Notes:
(1) Sam invites Sookie to his brother's wedding, which I presume will be "Small Town Wedding."
- You never really see novels setting up short stories.
(2) I forgot how squeamish I get around sex scenes. Naturally, I'm far less interested in the actual sex than questions of logic and lore.
- E.g. vampires produce semen, eh? What's the point without sperm? Or is there sperm? If so, what's the point of it?

Notes:
(1) "'Maybe you'll babysit for us sometime,' Tara said. 'We'll teach the baby to call you Aunt Sookie.' I'd be a courtesy aunt. I'd get to take care of a baby ... I found myself planning on a future."
- A significant line, given Sookie's cold feet re: Eric.
- Earlier, she frets over a future physically aging while Eric looks exactly the same.
- And, of course, vampires can't have babies—baby vamps don't count.
