First autobiography I have read in probably 7+ years but its a nice emotional switch up in between all the fantasy and romance I usually read

Capítulo 2: descrição de como as coisas funcionavam. Fala da sua adaptação demorada ao chegar ao campo e a forma como todos os recém-chegados se questionavam das coisas. Fala do trabalho árduo vivido todos os dias e as consequências que esse trabalho trás como as feridas nos pés devido aos sapatos. Fala também das regras que tinha de cumprir. Fala de cada vez estarem mais magros e irreconhecíveis.

Capítulo 1: A viagem
O autor descreve a sua viagem de comboio até ao campo de concentração de Auschwitz. Fala de como toda gente estava assustado e por isso não falavam uns com os outros e fala também da sua chegada, onde os 600 passageiros foram interrogados e separados em 2 grupos diferentes: uns para trabalhar e outros para serem exterminados. O autor ficou no grupo dos selecionados para trabalhar.

Vandaag is het een goede dag. We kijken om ons heen, als blinden die weer ziende worden, en kijken naar elkaar. We hadden elkaar nog nooit in de zon gezien; een enkeling glimlacht. Als we maar niet zo'n honger hadden!

Le livre à lire est bien plus intéressant que le cours

Empezamos a leer el libro en historia en mi colegio hace 3 semanas...hace 3 semanas que no tenemos historia, no lo vamos a terminar más...

Domani lo finisco… mi sta piacendo, non penso si possa discutere nulla su questo, ma non mi leggo un ultimo capitolo di 40 min 😭😭

Libro per la scuola! Non so perché ogni volta che mi assegnano un libro non riesco ad interessarmene e lo vedo come un peso e lo finisco tre volte più tardi di quando lo leggerei per mio piacere (purtroppo)

I have read Jorges Semprun and Klauss Mann, both accounts of their experiences during the Second World War. Primo Levi was imprisoned at Auschwitz as an Italian Jew, the category viewed as subhuman. The depths of human nature in dealing with those viewed as subhuman, are truly frightening.

The content has provided an excellent look of life inside camp and in my 30+ years of living there are definitely things about concentration camps that I’m learning through this book but I think with how the book is written, it is a little hard to comprehend with the inclusion of other languages without much explanation

So basically it has taken me an hour and twenty minutes to read these 42 pages... 💔💔

…It does seem reasonable (though it’s probably not necessary) for a writer to have something else going on, e.g., a _dua metio_, in order to have stuff to write about / cross-pollination—though it doesn’t have to be so official, legitimate &/or constraining as a “real job” or _metio_, but could rather be simply an experience of some part of the world.

Note from this reader, who is also a writer: I don’t think being a manager, or even being busy, is necessarily incompatible with writing (in my case, being terribly busy has led to different kinds of writing being produced, and perhaps less of it, but à la Scott Alexander’s “Apologia pro vita sua”, it has to come out somehow). …

…This whole trade is brutally incompatible with writing, which requires a fair amount of peace of mind. Consequently I felt hugely relieved when I reached retirement age and could resign, and so renounce my soul number one.”
