Ok this got better once this guy was done introducing 14 different scam artists. This book really needed an editor to say "...don't break up the stories like it's game of thrones, just tackle one at a time." That said, I also could do without the reddit style of writing. The little single-line paragraph interjections that are just internet slang? Take it back to the kitchen, the book needs more time in the oven.

I can't say I'm enjoying this a great deal so far. Each chapter sets up some new woo, but then....that's it? On to the next one? I'm not seeing the bigger picture here a quarter of the way in, which tells me you're failing as a nonfiction author.

All right I'm back on board, but I think the book is too slanted toward its goofball anecdotes. I get interested when he begins talking about ways the system helps these quacks prosper but those almost seem to be used as context for the anecdotes more than the thrust of the book.

Rough one, the death of Kali (?). Infuriating when these charlatans are told to close down, and they don't, and more people suffer, but the practitioners either get no consequence, or a slap on the hand, and they fucking keep going. Well timed, what with the "Medical Freedom" bs gaining traction. Waldorf, my god.

The Neumanns' Prayers Raised: takes a decidedly darker turn. Is Kara going to die because her parents won't let her receive medical care?

This is such unbelievable material, and so funny, that I keep forgetting it isn't fiction. I think it qualifies as narrative nonfiction. I really like this guy.
