Whoa, wow, whoa --- George Garrett's letter that culminates with "allowing myself the luxury and vice of hating another human being with an unforgiving and murderous malice," in this case a literary agent, and how Garrett uses his friend's story about fighting SS troops during WWII as a metaphor for his reaction. Yowza. Wow. Wow. XO.

First time I read this book was as a fledgling writer in an MFA fiction writing workshop. The letters mattered to me then, resonated, but, my God, do they matter now, because frankly, no one speaks to a fiction writer the way another fiction writer will, and I don't mean with malice or envy, I mean with honesty and heart, love, tough love, glowy love. Already crying with gratitude, beyond grateful right now. XO
