Okay, finally coming back to finish this, do I have any idea what’s going on? No, these characters are all a mystery to me, but they were before I took a long break anyway so not much different.

The normalness of some names, Ashley, Christian, Tristan, Johan, Andy, sometimes throws me off. Though maybe they’re spelled weird or maybe I’m just mishearing them. Without seeing them with my eyes the names mostly go in one ear and out the other.

I do want to know what’s going on, but I can’t imagine going through two more books like this so hopefully this doesn’t end as a cliffhanger

9 hours into this and I still don’t know who any of these characters are. I think there are two generations, multiple arranged marriages with varying degrees of happiness, at least three different groups of kids on the run from their possible arranged marriages, and I think someone was in prison, too, but I don’t think we’ve heard about him and his new friend lately…

Maybe I’m just not meant for high fantasy, too many characters and plots happening, not enough excitement at 2 hours in. I have no idea who these people are and if they’ve been introduced before or are new people still being added.

This is a bit crude at times, and I’m not a fan of the accents the narrator is giving people though I guess you’ve got to do something with this many characters. I wonder if the author approves that kind of thing, these are the Scottish people, these are the English people, these are the Welsh people…No, no! Those are supposed to be the German and Icelandic people…

I have completely missed every plot of this book. I can’t stop making comparisons to GOT and HOD. The exhausting use of the sexualization between family members was stretched beyond comprehension. I would find myself questioning the authors beliefs instead of trying to piece together the plot with the crumbs of information given.

…so many “plot” lines to follow but I can’t tell if I’m making proper progress on understanding who is who. Or any progress through this book …
