I’m astounded. I’m not necessarily surprised, because it’s not surprising that people would cut corners to save time and make money. But I’m astounded anyway at the blatant harm they caused and risks they took. The lack of oversight. This is incredible.

yallll this book is actually crazy I can’t stop listening to it. Also extremely relevant still as even today NPR was talking about how compounded drugs for ozempic prescriptions are no longer allowed as the FDA declared that Eli Lily should have enough production to fill them. Idk how this isn’t a bigger topic like wdym compounded drug production isn’t regulated?!

Listened to this on my run today. Crazy how this was exposed (shout out umich med) and also the conversations around drug safety vs profit etc. also so cool how the microbiologists/fungal experts were pretty much immediately able to ID the fungus

One thing I’ll say is fuck capitalism because so many people are dying because of it.

This is a fascinating ride. It's a thriller which takes you back and forth between an apocalyptic event that took place in 2012 and 2002 when all of these bureaucratic compound pharmacy events blossomed into the nightmare it is today. Can't express how well this is written. A thriller, yet it's a true story. Unreal.

I'm reading this for research on my next book, however, this is a fascinating story about how the compounding pharmacy industry is rife with loopholes.

My boyfriend got me this book on audible as a gift. Not typically a non fiction reader but excited to read as he highly recommended it!

It’s insane how I know this story already because I work in this industry but I’m still learning so much and it’s so much worse than I remember
