I just started and I'm already fuming.

That wedding reception gave me a mega headache. I truly don't understand why Khalil's convoluted history and manipulations needed to be a huge scene at Vikka's wedding when this book was supposed to focus on Jai and Temple. Understanding Khalil would have made sense in the first book-- not here. But most of how this book is written makes me glad it was only 99 cents. It's irritating.

I'm not sure the author is clear about which story line is supposed to be the central theme. The love story doesn't start until the halfway point. The investigation into the impregnation of a comatose patient is swallowed up by sub-plots: the knights, the real brothers, the political agenda, a secondary love story, the patient's narcissistic mother. It's too distracting and just too much going on.

I want to like this book, but I'm beginning to think this author's style of writing isn't compatible with how my brain works. Despite enjoying the 2nd and 3rd books, I'm once again feeling frustrated. Plot details, especially complex schemes, need to make sense. Issues that are emphasized shouldn't be dropped without being completed. At halfway through, none of the antagonists are realistic. It's confusing -- AGAIN.

Wow. My head is spinning -- again. All of these characters certainly have a lot going on.
