I love Alyson Noël, but I cannot finish this!!! I hate giving up on books but this has been so triggering. I'm sure there's some big lesson at the end about how superficiality & being the popular girl isn't worth it but omg the amount of times the R-word has been thrown around and the eating disorder jokes!!! Maybe I'm just too old for highschool stories or maybe this is just truly atrocious writing lmao

I'd feel angst for the protagonist, but she's just as unlikeable as the antagonist...so I'm left hoping the novel will combust in my hands and I'll be spared having to read the rest of this soulless drivel. 😒

I don't like DNFing novels, so I'll finish this one. But it's dragging for me, painfully. It's not the worst plot ever, but it's just not for me. People like the ones portrayed here are my personal nightmare. The blurb didn't mention anything about just how hardcore this novel gets (drugs/sex).

The novel lacks soul. The plot's getting boring now, and I'm not the least bit invested in the characters' vapid lives.

While the plot is engaging, none of the characters have anything redeeming in their makeup. I don't like any of them, so I'm finding it difficult to empathise with any of them, the protagonist included.

And Jas is acting like a dirty douche, what with passive-aggressively stringing Rio along while dating another girl. Mixed signals suck, as do those who send them.

This isn't a simple stereotypical plot about rich & popular kids versus poor & stoner kids. Almost everyone (except for the scholarship kid) comes from wealth. And Rio wants to hang with the "stoner" guy, but he's got a girlfriend & is sending her mixed signals. Plus, Rio's mom wants her to hang with the popular kids.

Rio went through a lot of drama with her friend kris. She ends up changing and becoming who she was to be. She stand up for herself and others finally stand up for themselves. At the end she kiss jas and that end of the book
