I will describe the book as Folksy. However it is not something I can bear to listen to any longer. I believe the narrator’s accent and twang was too much. I apologize. The stories might have been pleasantly tolerable but audible version,(again I apologize) was too much. For a few years I lived in Florida. The accent was hard to tune my ear to, then as well as now.
Perhaps I should read the rest. Maybe….

Self: disregard earlier note about title piece. Wrong spot. Reading it now, funny as hell. "Cheap tears."

Title piece; not funny, but interesting. I suspect White is one of those writers that appeals pretty much to white women over 50.

That bus ride was put together so carefully, I expected it to do something at the end.

Glad I wasn't deterred by the low average rating here. What a delightful little book. Like all wonderful fiction, it will be over way too soon.

Bought from Powell's used and I love 1st two stories. Quirky, eccentric, and amusing. Just what the doctor ordered.
