Ahh yes. The irony of reading a book taking place in the surrounding countries to Germany in the 1930’s and hearing all the things we hear and fear today in the USA. 🙃 I don’t like how relatable this stuff gets.

every time I go to eat lunch the most disgusting and graphic scene starts to happen in the book that I have to wait till its over...at least the book is good

Woah! The setup of the story, the brilliance of Dr Viktor Kosárek, the unknown of the “Devil’s Six” and “Leather Apron”, I’m hooked. Like so so hooked

A castle converted into an asylum that sits on top of a network of caves believed to be the mouth of hell? This rules.

I’m already loving this author’s style. “The Devil’s Six” reminds me Thirteen Ghosts.

Everyone is a suspect

Is this based on the real castle that is supposedly covering the entrance to hell? Was it really an asylum? Either way a 1930’s czechoslokian asylum. Sign me up!

Now I’m getting shutter islands meets silence of the lambs vibes.. spoooky

It’s giving Jack the Ripper meets Criminal Minds meets Arkham asylum and I’m here for it 👌🏼

He has a nice little date with someone he's met in town, and now one of his patients has gone catatonic, or nearly so.
Damn, but this thing feels long to me.

Now the clown. The office is in the top of the tower, about as Gothic as it's gonna get. The patient is in restraints, and he gives him a sedative (against his will) so he'll calm down enough to talk. The clown denies everything. .

We meet each of them. One is the "Gypsy" that believes a demon has been following him and doing these things, forcing him to watch. Another is a woman that looks normal, even boring, but despite espousing vegetarianism, she attacked a man she believed was giving her carnal gazes and gouged out his eyeball...then swallowed it. Yikes.

The terrified Gypsy patient, who wishes to be hanged rather than have this unspeakable being attack him. 6 extra-scary criminal patients housed in this one castle. Very Octoberish.
