Fun sci fi novel thats surprisingly gay and feminist

Just could not get into this book and unfortunately it becomes a DNF

At first, I wasn’t sure about this book, but it grew on me. I love the idea of women trying to change history to make it more equitable. It was interesting to see how each small changed at a bigger, change later down the road.

I am still trying to make sense of this book. A little heavy on agenda for me so far.

this is 100% nitpicking but you cannot use modern vernacular and slang in the 1800s and then write a character (realistically) being confused by the term African American

Kinda hard for me to follow right now, but getting more interesting.

Good! Scary :( but good! Characterization is strong and the removal of dignity and sexualization during abortion scene was really well done. Reminds me of the once and future witches + hand maids take. Queen bee detail = shudder. Reminds me of Plato’s desire to make women breeding slaves

Really not liking the flashbacks or whatever to Beth, like who cares about that when the rest is about editing a timeline??

wow i think i'm gonna hate this book. this is marketed everywhere as a feminist novel, and yet despite that (and the main villains being literal incels), no one gets more hate in it than white womyn

i mean, come on, imagining a future with a female president is "white feminism" now??

probably gonna put the womyn-hating-womyn tag on this novel unless it takes a major turn

this book is the exact brand of insufferable you'd get if you put the average white twitter liberal in a time travel machine. our self congratulatory 90s born white protagonist is in the 1890s ... to lecture us all about white feminism. which has nothing to do with her of course. she's one of the good ones (self identified)

does not bode well when rolling your eyes 2 pages in but ive had this book for 2 months and the library wants it back

I hate the juxtaposition of violently misogynistic males and women who are supposedly our last hope moving forward with as little violence as possible especially under the guise of “ruining his reputation”, ladies have we not seen post MeToo that these violent men don’t face repercussions for their actions? Just feels bad man, where’s the TEETH.

Another book that I’m not enjoying at all. Heavy handed commentary with threadbare characters and plot that is convoluted.
