Hesse is one of my favorite authors and this book is solidifying that stance. He sees life so clearly and his writing draws you into his weird realm of belief. I’m probably only going to understand half of this book just because my brain hasn’t ascended to the necessary plane of existence but whatever I glean from it I’m sure will be powerful.

This is pretty depressing so far. I was pretty captivated by the intro from Harry's fellow lodger, and kind of hyped up the book. So far, I am trying to figure out the structure of the book. Also seems like there are no chapter breaks? Confounding.

I already find Haller really relatable. I love how openly he shares what he enjoys. It feels like that kind of openness has been lost these days, and conversations like that only happen by chance. Im not even sure why.
