Adare being the least interesting character holds up to my memory. She lacks the empathy her brothers instil, and it doesn’t help that the events of her POV feel the least realised, what with the technicalities of her experiences and talents being skated over unlike the boys. In theory she’s an interesting character, but she’s an ill-fit for Brian as an author.

Second time's the charm.

It’s rare but this sequel is in some ways better than the first book! The info dumps are shorter and the pace picked up considerably!

This is not as enticing as I was hoping it'd be. HOWEVER, the misogynistic world building elements have been toned down so they're more tolerable. They're still there for consistency, but not making me wanna throw the book lmao

Chapters 1 - 3 continue the story of the 3 Malkeenian siblings, Kaden & Valyn stuck in the mountains and Adare in Annur post the attempt on Kaden's life as the new emperor.

vou pausar a leitura desse aqui, por enquanto. não é que tá ruim, mas no momento eu tô bem sem paciência pra burrice dos protagonistas.

me causa extrema agonia que a Triste, essa personagem tão insossa esteja movendo a trama de Kaden, pq nada disso estaria acontecendo se ele não tivesse sido burro o suficiente para salvá-la, eu tô em paciência nenhuma

estou extremamente decepcionada com Kaden, ele não parecia ser o protagonista estúpido que se mostrou aqui. esse livro é uma alta fantasia, logo tudo que eu menos esperava ver era o protagonista arruinando tudo por causa de mulher. uma mulher que ele nem c0m3u ainda, que é só uma coisa sem personalidade nenhuma. sério. se essas decisões não fizerem sentido, esse autor é um imbecil.

I've fallen into a bit of a reading slump, but it's not this book's fault. While it feels a little less purposeful than the first book, maybe a transitional book, I'm still enjoying it a lot. Every time I start reading, I fall right in, so I plan on finishing up in the next week.

So very much intrigue in this book! Family being pitted against each other either by lack of information or just pure misinformation! I feel for all of them at this point!

Husbando and I are listening to this as an audiobook together. The narration is marvelous. The writing immaculate. I'm obsessed.

I'm so close to dnfing this whole series because of how incredibly annoying most POV characters are. They're angry all the time and make the stupidest, most rash decisions which somehow turn out alright because the plot demands it I guess.
Adare especially has changed from an intelligent woman to a dumbass who constantly undermines her allies, instead doing whatever the bad guys tell her to do and it's irritating.

yes i’m reading the same series over and over again because there’s literally nothing else that can hold my attention as long as those gems

DNF might come back later but I got irritated and disappointed
