Status Updates From Invitation to a Bonfire

I’m putting it aside. Beautiful, well-crafted writing and I’m more in the mood for a popular, page-turner right now.

I mainly picked this book up for the intriguing title and cool cover art, so I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I am. It reads a little like a memoir so I’m loving it.

I have to admit I liked the book a little bit better BEFORE Zoya and Lev met. And this is weird to say because the book is supposed to evolve around this relationship... 🤔
I don't get Zoyas obsession... I do get she was obessed with Lev as an author - but what did he acutally do as a man (other than sleeping with her) to get her so deeply involved? Unfortunatley we do not get an answer to that...

The prose... I'm in love... ❤

Exquisitely written, abysmal pacing.

I am enjoying this a whole lot, somehow surprisingly.

While reading this I’ve not been quite sure what type of book it is. 🤔

Zoya hints that she is hesitating about burning her diary by noting that no one would look for her, nor the diary in this cabin as it is not rented in her name.

It's quite good! I didn't expect much honestly but it's really nice. Didn't expect to read so much just in 24 hours especially with such heavy vocab

Life is too short to read books you’re not enjoying

It’s ok, I just find the ‘faux’ this is real bits irritating. Pretending that extracts from a certain diary were found. Unless I’m missing something and this is real?!

I Flippin loved this book! I was hooked and wasn’t sure why...and the ending...I re-read it a few times as I couldn’t quite believe it!

Possibly the best sentence I’ve read all year: “Dear John, I realize I’ve been out of touch, but a man’s been investigating my hip bones with his teeth.”

A bit clunky at the start but quickly won me over. Dense so while it's a relatively short book it's requiring concentration and telling a rich complex story.

Well now there's a plot twist! 😨

How can I not love this book??
